Bribie Island / Tangalooma
Tangalooma is one of the most beautiful destinations in Moreton Bay but relies on fairly calm weather to travel across the bay and to anchor peacefully for the night. It is well sought after by visitors, cruise ships, and snorkelling and diving enthusiasts. This trip heads to Tangalooma via Bulwer, from Bribie, but feel free to launch elsewhere and meet us at Tangalooma! Early birds on Friday evening will meet at the MRQ on Bribie, anchor there overnight and head off on Saturday morning.
14 - 21 September, 2025
This is one of our most popular trips, so don’t miss out!! The destination for our stay will be the Great Keppel Island area located not far from Keppel Bay marina. The marina is around 680km North of Brisbane and is around an 8 to 9 hour drive with minimal breaks, so best to take it easy with a stop on the way, possibly at Gin Gin. Great Keppel Island is arguably one of the best destinations on the Qld Coast for trailererable cruisers from Brisbane as it offers fantastic anchorages along with great snorkelling and fishing opportunities as well. With 17 separate white sandy beaches, great bush walking and even a licensed café this Island has something for everybody!
If we don’t have a rest day on Sunday14th September we’ll head north and stay in the marina Monday night.
12th - 14th September
Showcasing the Brisbane River for our interstate visitors, and locals. The destination for the overnights will be offshore from the Northshore Riverside Park towards the mouth of the Brisbane river, just upstream from the Gateway bridge and opposite Colmslie boat ramp.
For Friday Early birds, 4pm drinks and nibbles on the beach to watch the sun go down. Saturday sees an exploration heading upstream from Eat St. to the Botanical gardens in Brisbane City. This is a picturesque cruise through the city with lots to see on the way! We plan to moor at the City Botanic Gardens River Hub. Then on to the Powerhouse for lunch, and back to Eat St for the evening.
Sunday morning breakfast at the Northshore Riverside Park BBQ.
22 - 24 August , 2025
This trip takes us up the southern part of the Bribie passage from the VMR boat ramp to Mission point. It is an easy cruise, and the passage is well sheltered from most winds. The passage has many sandy beaches and stretches of mangroves, with picturesque views of the Glasshouse mountains. Starting at Sylvan Beach we will cruise up to Mission point where we will be staying overnight with a sausage sizzle, a bonfire, and a singalong! On Saturday morning the VMR will be giving us a presentation on safe passage of the area and northern Moreton Bay, and an update on the new boating regulations. Sunday will see us head south of the bridge to the bustling Bongaree jetty and shopping area.
19th - 20th July
Time to dust off your Christmas attire - win the prize for best dressed!!
This will be an awesome event. Be prepared for surprises!!
Secret Santa will be organised!
After a memorable Christmas in July at Coochiemudlo last year, we are going back to this beautiful island and Chef Joe, who catered such a delicious meal in 2024. He has recently opened ‘Viva Coochie’, in a beautiful venue less than 5 minutes’ walk from shore.
Viva brings fresh energy to a much-loved venue (was Oasis Resort) and has quickly become a social hub for islanders and visitors alike.
Although the weekend starts on Saturday, for the Early Birds that may want to arrive on Friday, the following is available at your leisure
See the event briefing on our Website or Facebook!

Tipplers and South Stradbroke Island is a club favourite destination, with the Tipplers cafe, bbq's and toilets available onshore. The club has booked campsite #6 so we can gather around a fire for happy hour and into the night. Briefing plan to be posted and sent out via email!
25 - 27 April, 2025
The Tweed River trip has lots to offer. Jack Evans Boat Harbour near twin Towns is a great and safe anchorage. This is a great place to spend the night with a fish and chips shop right there, an easy 10 minute walk to a great Chinese shop we discovered last trip or dine on board. Also there is Twin Waters ….. This is one of our most popular trips, so come on down!! I’ve heard fishing is great, but I’m yet to confirm that!! Perhaps you provide some real evidence!!!
Feb 15th Saturday - 16th Sunday 2025
For those who’ve never been to Kooringal you shouldn’t miss this. Kooringal is a hidden gem approximately 45 minutes from Manly harbour. It’s a great run that offers something different.
Kooringal is harder to access on low tide and it’s recommended to enter on a rising tide closer to high tide just to be sure. On the weekend of the 15th and 16th the tides will be in our favor around 11am to 12pm. Note the times given below are for Kooringal.
Also tucked away in the bushes is the Gutter Bar. A fun little pub that serves good food, prawns and beer that we will head to for lunch on Saturday.

Horseshoe Bay at Peel Island is one of the most popular anchorages in Moreton Bay. A long sandy beach facing south protects boats from most all winds except southerlies. This trip combines a day at Peel on Saturday with dinner at Raby bay for those launching on Friday. We also plan to visit Stradbroke Island on Sunday. While we have had several ad-hoc trips to Peel Is, this is the first of our planned trips for some years! Hope to see you there!!
A trip to Macintosh Island / Budds Beach overnight on Saturday, heading to Marine Stadium on Sunday. Early birds on Friday will be at Wavebreak Island.
September 14th - 21st 2024

JUNE 21st-23rd, 2024
Our June club event will be Tipplers on South Stradbroke Island. This is instead of Noosa River which is currently being dredged and has several closed areas. Tipplers is one of the Gold Coast’s Iconic Island destinations. It has a lovely beach that is great for swimming, mooring, and staying overnight. There is a campground and a kiosk that has great food and ice creams. We have hired one of the campsites for a campsite barbecue. You can see lots of wildlife, and kangaroos and Wallabies abound. There are walks over to the ocean beach and to Cooran Cove.
25th to 28th April
Hi Captains and Crew, As you know we are combining with NSW to run a trip to Lake Macquarie. Here is the initial plan from Kevin Shaw, the trip Coordinator. More information will follow, but in the meantime can you please let us know if you are planning on going on the trip (under events), thanks!

This trip is a real adventure! We take the trip to Caloundra via the inside passage between Bribie Island and the mainland. There is some great scenery along the route with impressive views of the Glasshouse mountains. For those who are into nature, there is plenty to look at as we wend our way slowly through the mangrove passage. We plan to have lunch at the Pelican Waters Tavern, mooring in their basin.

Come and join us for an adventurous trip to Tin Can Bay and the Great Sandy Strait. You’ll also have a chance to attend a bar Crossing briefing by the tin can bay Coast Guard on Saturday morning. Bar crossing is a capability Whittley skippers should aspire to having, and this is an excellent opportunity to gather this knowledge under the supervision of the Coast Guard experts.
We will be staying at Garrys Landing overnight on Saturday, and returning on Sunday via Poona and Boonaroo to Inskip Point for a swim.
Here we go Great Sandy Strait!!! Trip Leaders: Annette & Phil – “Nauti Supa”
